Welcome! I am Colin Flaherty, sole owner and inspector of Flaherty Home Inspections, LLC.
Did you know that neither carpenters nor home inspectors are required to be certified in any way in Maine? Construction in Maine is still the Wild West, and this is why it is especially important to hire a quality inspector. I am certified through InterNACHI, the only home inspector school accredited by the Department of Education, and also hold a 70 credit Associate’s Degree in Construction Technology from SMCC. During my time in the Army, my job was finding improvised explosive devices and clearing the way so others could follow behind, whether in a vehicle or on the ground. I was usually in the lead vehicle and also flew the hand-launched drone that our company used to gain reconnaissance of an area. This led me to develop a very analytical approach to everything that I do, and I try my best to find any clues that could help lead to a further understanding of a situation. I have combined my developed analytical skills with my love for construction and construction methods to provide value for potential homebuyers in ensuring that they have a clear understanding of their investment.
You can be confident that I will be extremely thorough inspecting your potential home and I will devote as much time as necessary. I will only be conducting one inspection per day and will never be rushing off to do another inspection. I will be using Spectora to generate incredible and easy to read reports for you and your agent. I will also be using Radalink’s top-end continuous radon monitors with Radalink generated and backed lab reports if you choose to have radon testing done.
